The Season of Sowing
“For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh
reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of
the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary
in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint
not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto
all men, especially unto them who are of the household of
faith.”
Galatians 6:8-10
We believe God has called us to do more in the Kingdom. We
believe the Almighty has called us to excellence, with a sense
of urgency, for greater accountability and greater responsibility
to be a blessing to the believer and the non-believer alike.
We believe that God has ordained this church to remain here
at the intersection of Oakland Mills Road and Guilford Road
to continue to be a foundation for this ever-evolving community.
Our overall vision is to affect many areas such as community,
education, employment, economic development, and most importantly
winning souls to Christ.. To this end, we must expand the
facilities and ministries of the First Baptist Church of Guilford.
More space… More Ministries … More facilities
… More Responsibilities … “for the support
of a faithful and evangelical ministry… the relief of
the poor and the spreading of the gospel throughout the world.”
Your support is appreciated in this “season of sowing.”
In due season, it is our prayer that you will join in with
us as we celebrate the harvest. Thank you for you attention,
prayers, and support.
Please read the information below for guidance as to how
you can help us in our season of sowing.
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
The First Baptist Church of Guilford’s Capital Campaign
is an organized means of providing ways for our church members
and friends to make financial contributions toward the construction
of our new church. Please take a moment and review the different
ways in which you can personally contribute and make a difference
in the building of God’s Kingdom.
Giving Tree
The “Giving Tree” is the perfect way to be a part
of the plan. We invite you to honor a family-member, friend,
or organization by purchasing a leaf on the “Giving
Tree.” The leaves will be engraved with names, dates,
and initials. You can purchase a leaf without engraving if
your giving wish is to be in anonymity. The “Giving
Tree” will be displayed in a pre-determined location
within the new church. Gifts of $1000.00 will receive a gold
leaf, which will be placed on the tree. Gifts of $500.00 will
receive a silver bar, which will go on a “Giving Tree
Scroll.”
Foundation Bricks
Be a part of history and have your name engraved in stone.
“It is Written" bricks will be available for purchase
for a cost of $250.00 each. Have your family, business, or
organization’s name engraved on a brick. “It is
Written/Engraved Bricks” will only be available during
designated times and a pre-determined place will be allocated
for engraved bricks (i.e. walkways, gardens, etc.). Bricks
can be purchased without engraving and your name will go on
a “Building the Foundation Roster” which will
be hung in the vestibule of the new church. Foundation bricks
will be sold over a greater period of time at a cost of $25.00
each. These bricks will be used throughout the entire building
of the new church. All brick purchases will be recorded and
remain in the archives of the church.
Named Gifts
“Named Gifts” are available through the purchase
of rooms, furniture, or equipment needed for the new church.
Below are just a few of the items individuals, families, businesses,
and organizations will have the opportunity to give to the
church in the form of a named gift. All gifts will have predetermined
values associated with them.

• Choir Loft Pews
• Computers
• Conference Tables
• Educational Rooms
• Landscaping

Pledges
Church members and friends can make financial pledges towards
the building of our new church. These pledges can be in the
form of one lump sum or installments.
Sunday Offering Envelope
There is a line item for Capital Campaign contributions located
on the offering envelops that you receive as you enter the
church sanctuary on Sunday mornings. Please feel free to make
contributions to the Capital Campaign on Sundays through the
use of your offering envelope.
Passive Giving
Like the leaf and brick purchases, some individuals wish to
give in anonymity. We respect this, and we will ensure those
who wish to give in the form of cash, annuities, trust or
other monetary gifts, that provisions will be in place to
handle these gifts with the utmost of confidentiality and
discretion.
If you wish to give in the name of a love one or organization,
your opportunity will also be considered of delicate nature
and may require a sensitive handling in a manner pleasing
to the contributor. All giving that is done in this manner
shall only remain anonymous to the extent that all parties
are in compliance with such provisions.
